Why SEO for tradies costs less per lead over time
SEO pricing genuinely varies by market. A plumber in a regional town with light competition needs a very different level of investment than an electrician trying to rank in a competitive metro market. Anyone quoting a flat rate before looking at your market and competition is guessing.
That's why our SEO pricing is case-by-case, typically starting around $2,200/month — we'll tell you honestly what your market needs before you commit to anything.

How we run SEO for tradies
What SEO for a trade business involves
SEO is the work of making your site the one Google shows when someone in your area searches for what you do. For a trade business that breaks into three parts: technical SEO (the site loads fast, is crawlable, and has the right structure and schema), local SEO (your Google Business Profile, reviews, citations and location signals line up with your service area), and content (pages that genuinely answer the searches your customers make — job-type pages, cost guides, 'do I need a permit' answers). Most agencies sell one of the three and call it SEO. All three are needed.
It's slower than ads and more durable. Ads stop the moment you stop paying; rankings keep sending enquiries. Most clients see meaningful movement within a few months and build from there — but anyone who promises a page-one ranking by a certain date is either guessing or planning to game it in a way that won't last.
Why there is no flat SEO price
How much work it takes to rank depends entirely on your market. A plumber in a regional town with three competitors needs far less than a plumber in a capital city fighting fifty. Content needs, link building, technical fixes, the number of locations and services — all of it scales with competition. That's why SEO is typically from $2,200 a month and scoped to your market, rather than a flat menu price that's either padded for easy markets or under-delivers in hard ones. We'll assess your actual competition before we quote.
The content approach: job-type pages, not spun suburb pages
The fastest way to hurt a tradie's rankings is the tactic most often sold as SEO: one service page duplicated across twenty suburbs with the name swapped. Google's systems identify that pattern, and it often drags the whole site down. We build the opposite — pages for the job types you want, written properly, with real detail about how that job works in your area, plus genuine location content only where you have a real presence. It takes longer. It also lasts.
- Job-type pages built around what people search ('hot water replacement', 'switchboard upgrade', 'deck builder').
- Cost guides and process guides that answer the questions people ask before they call — these rank and pre-qualify at the same time.
- Google Business Profile management: categories, services, posts, review responses and photos, kept current.
- Technical work: speed, mobile usability, schema, internal linking and fixing whatever the last developer left behind.
What the monthly SEO report shows
Rankings for the terms that matter (not vanity terms), organic traffic to the pages that produce enquiries, the enquiries themselves — calls and forms tracked to organic search — and what changed this month and what's planned next. If a month is flat, the report says so and says why. You'll never get a wall of green arrows with nothing behind them.
What the first 30 days of SEO look like
Month one is mostly foundations: a full technical audit and fixes, keyword and competitor research for your actual market, Google Business Profile cleanup, tracking verified, and the first job-type pages or cost guides drafted and published. You won't see rankings move much in month one — anyone who says you will is selling something else — but you'll see a clear plan, the technical problems fixed, and the first content live. Movement typically starts in the following months and builds from there.
Questions to ask any SEO provider
- Can you show me the pages and content you'll create, not just 'optimisation'?
- Will you build suburb pages by swapping the name across duplicates? (The right answer is no.)
- How do you build links, and can I see examples?
- What does the monthly report show — rankings for real terms and tracked enquiries, or traffic graphs?
- Do you guarantee a ranking? (The right answer is no, with an explanation of why.)
Standards we work to. Google search essentials (the baseline every page is built to); Google's helpful-content guidance (why job-type pages beat spun suburb pages). Our own figures come from the accounts on the results page.
