What a tradie website has to do
Most trade businesses still run on a site that was thrown together years ago — slow to load, hard to read on a phone, and missing the basics that turn a visitor into an enquiry. Every day it stays that way, someone searching for your trade is landing on it, giving up, and calling the next result instead.
We build sites specifically for trade businesses: fast on mobile, structured around the actual jobs you want more of, with quote forms and click-to-call in the right places instead of buried in a menu.
What our tradie website design includes
Fast, mobile-first build
Built and tested for how customers browse — on their phone, standing on a job site or in their ute.
Service & quote pages
Pages structured around the jobs you want — not one generic 'services' page trying to cover everything.
Click-to-call & quote forms
Conversion points where people look for them, tested on mobile — not a contact form buried three clicks deep.
Basic on-page SEO
Titles, meta descriptions, headings and structure set up properly from day one — not left for later.
GA4 & Search Console
Installed and verified so you can see what's happening, whether or not you're running ads yet.
SSL, hosting & backups
Handled for you — no separate hosting bill, no expired certificate warnings scaring off visitors.
How we design and launch a tradie website
What makes a tradie website convert
A trade website has one job: turn a person who's already decided they need a tradie into a phone call or a quote request, on a phone, in under a minute. Most tradie sites fail that test not because they look bad but because they were designed on a desktop by someone who's never watched a customer use one. The phone number is in the footer. The quote form asks twelve questions. The gallery takes eight seconds to load on 4G. The services page lists everything the business has ever done and nothing about where it works.
The sites we build start from the customer's moment: standing in a kitchen with a leaking tap, sitting in the ute between jobs, or on the couch pricing a renovation. Every page answers three questions above the fold — do you do this job, do you work in my area, how do I contact you — and everything else supports that. It's not complicated. It's just rarely done.
What is in the build
- A page for each job type you want more of — not one 'services' page — so each search lands on a page that answers it, and so each page can rank for its own terms.
- Tap-to-call and a short quote form on every page, tested on a real phone, with a honeypot and timing guard so you don't drown in spam.
- Real photos of your work, your van and your team, sized and compressed properly. Stock hard-hat photos are the fastest way to look like every other site.
- Your service area stated in words Google and customers both understand — suburbs and regions, not 'we service all areas'.
- On-page SEO done properly from day one: titles, descriptions, headings, schema markup, an XML sitemap and a Google Business Profile that matches the site.
- GA4, Search Console and call tracking installed and verified, so from the first week you can see where visitors come from and what they do.
Why it's $0 to build and $79 a month
We build the site free because the site is the foundation everything else stands on — campaigns and SEO both convert better on a site built for it, and a business that's seen the build tends to stay for the marketing. The $79 a month covers what a website costs to keep running properly: fast hosting, an SSL certificate, daily backups, security updates, uptime monitoring and up to an hour of content changes each month. Work beyond that hour — a new page, a redesign of a section, a new integration — is quoted at $120 an hour before we start.
There's no lock-in on the website. If you leave, you keep the domain and we'll hand over the site files. We'd rather earn the ongoing fee by being useful than by making it hard to leave.
What we will not do on a website
We won't stuff pages with suburb names to game local rankings — Google's helpful-content systems are built to catch that, and it reads badly to customers. We won't add fake reviews, fake countdown timers or 'only 2 spots left' widgets. We won't put a chatbot on a page where a phone number does the job better. And we won't build a site that needs a developer every time you want to change a sentence — you'll be able to update the basics yourself, or ask us and it's covered by the monthly hour.
What the first 30 days look like
Week one: we collect your photos, job types, service area and licence details, and set up hosting, the domain and tracking. Week two: copy and pages are drafted for your review — you tell us what's wrong, we fix it. By the end of week two or early in week three, the site is live with GA4, Search Console, call tracking and a matching Google Business Profile. The rest of the month is small adjustments as the first enquiries arrive and we see how real visitors use the pages. There's no six-week discovery phase and no design-by-committee.
Questions to ask anyone building your website
- Who owns the domain and the site files if I leave? (You should.)
- Will there be a separate page for each job type I want, or one 'services' page?
- How fast does it load on a phone on 4G — can you show me a real measurement?
- Is call tracking and analytics set up on day one, or is that extra?
- What exactly does the monthly fee cover, and what costs extra?
If a builder can't answer those plainly, the site will probably look fine and do nothing.
Standards we work to. Core web vitals (the page-speed and stability thresholds Google measures); Google's page experience guidance (what Search rewards on mobile). Our own figures come from the accounts on the results page.
